II. How to Add Line Items to Checkout using Drop Down, Favorites, and Barcode Scanner Features
Our platform offers three convenient ways to add service and product line items to a checkout: through the drop down menu, favorites list, or barcode scanner. Read on to learn how to use each of these features.
Using the Drop Down Menu
The drop down menu is a simple and efficient way to access your favorite products and services. To use this feature, simply click on the drop down menu located at the top of your screen. From there, you can select your desired product or service and easily access it with just one click.
Accessing Your Favorites List
If you have a list of frequently used products and services, you can save them to your favorites list for even quicker access. To add an item to your favorites list, simply click on the heart icon next to the product or service. You can access your favorites list by clicking on the "Favorites" tab on the left side of your screen. For more detailed instructions on how to use this feature, check out our Favorites article.
Using the Barcode Scanner
For those who prefer a hands-free approach, our barcode scanner feature is the perfect solution. Simply open the KeepTheFees app on your mobile device and click on the barcode scanner icon. Then, scan the barcode of the product or service you wish to access. This feature is especially useful for businesses that have a large inventory of products. For more information on how to use the barcode scanner, check out our Barcode Scanner article.

Why Some Services Cannot Be Added at Checkout
If you navigate directly to the checkout screen without going through the appointment process, you may notice that some services are not available for selection. This is because these services rely on the artist's hourly rate or require a consent form, which cannot be determined without an associated appointment.
The message you'll see on the screen is "Please note that this transaction is not associated with an appointment. Services that rely on the artist's hourly rate or require a consent form will not be available."
How to Configure Services for Checkout
In order for a service to be available for selection at checkout that does not originate from an appointment, it must be configured in a specific way. See the below screenshot to ensure your services are set up correctly:
By configuring your services in this way, they will be available for selection at checkout and will accurately reflect the artist's hourly rate and duration of the appointment.
In summary, when navigating directly to the checkout screen without going through the appointment process, some services may not be available for selection. This is because they rely on the artist's hourly rate or require a consent form, which cannot be determined without an associated appointment. By properly configuring your services, you can ensure a smooth checkout process for your clients.
III. Editing Line Items
Once your line items are added, you can edit each field to suit your needs:
Change the Service/Product/SKU if you want to change the item being rung up.
Change the Quantity to sell any quantity other than one.
This can be a decimal, so if you have a service called '1 Hour of Tattooing', you can type in 2.5 and the Total Price column will be updated to reflect the unit price x 2.5. Amounts will be rounded to the nearest penny.
Change the Unit Price: You can change the unit price at checkout for any line item that is not a service with it's price calculated by artist's hourly rate. The Total Price column will always be the Unit Price x Quantity.
Add a Coupon: You can add a discount if you'd like. The Coupons can be set up as a fixed dollar amount discount or percentage of line item discount. You can also choose whether you want to subtract the discount amount from the artist's commission, the shop's commission, or from both equally.
Add an Artist(s) to receive commission: Here, you can add one or more artists to receive commission. If you have more than one artist getting commission on a single line item, each artist's commission will be divided by the number of artists listed on the line item.
For example, if there are 2 artists working on a "1 Hour of Tattooing" service:
Artist A is configured to get 50% commission on the service, but in this case gets 25% commission on the service (50% / 2 artists)
Artist B is configured to get 60% commission on the service, but in this case gets 30% commission on the service (60% / 2 artists)
In this case, the Shop pays out a total of 55% commission and keeps 45%.
